Providing a safe place for women and their children
Communicare Tuart House is a regional accommodation and support service for women and their children who are homeless, or are at imminent risk of homelessness, as a result of family and domestic violence. It is a culturally safe place for women and their children to be empowered and remain safe while rebuilding their lives.
At Tuart House we provide the following support:
- Safe and secure accommodation including practical daily essentials.
- A therapeutic environment centred around rebuilding strengths and active participation in healing;
- Individual and family focused case management;
- Advocacy for women and children including referrals to specialist support;
- Outreach support.
- Trauma informed team members can assist with individual needs and support regarding matters such as, but not limited to:
- Family law matters and Family Violence Restraining Orders;
- Housing advocacy;
- Financial counselling;
- Children’s services support and referrals;
- Health and wellbeing support;
- Counselling referrals.
Communicare’s Tuart House program is funded by the Government of Western Australia Department of Communities.
Who can it help?
Communicare Tuart House women’s accommodation service is available to women and their children across Australia who are homeless, or at high risk of homelessness, as a result of family and domestic violence.
Mobile Outreach
Tuart House also operates a Mobile Outreach service. This service aims to improve the safety of women and their children, who have experienced domestic violence and is available in:
- Busselton
- Augusta/Margaret River
- Boyup Brook
- Bridgetown/Greenbushes
- Manjimup
- Nannup
