Men talking in therapy

This program engages with men who have used violence, putting supports in place for them to learn new behaviours, as well as develop a personalised action plan.

The Choose Change Family Domestic Violence Response Teams (FDVRT) program runs across five locations in a collaborative approach with the Department of Communities, Family Domestic Violence Response Teams (FDVRT) and in partnership with women’s safety services.

Referrals for the program come through the FDVRT. This program engages with men who have used violence, putting supports in place for them to learn new behaviours, as well as develop a personalised action plan in response to the identified risk that aims to increase the safety of people impacted by their use of violence. This program provides strategies and techniques to improve relationships and help men develop an increased understanding of how violence and abuse impacts others.

The program will support individuals to create safer and healthier intimate family relationships either through individual sessions or through a case management approach.

The program supports individuals with an understanding that FDV is an abuse of power and control and promotes an understanding of safe and healthy relationships.

The Choose Change FDVRT program is an initiative funded by the Commonwealth Government under its Perpetrator Responses initiative.
