Carramar Family Day Care Incident Update

Melissa Perry, CEO of not-for-profit community service provider, Communicare said the organisation was deeply saddened and distressed to learn about the passing of the two-year-old boy found in a swimming pool at the home of one of its Family Day Care Educators.

 

“Our hearts go out to the parents of this little boy and we stand by to support them in whatever way we can as they deal with their grief,” Ms Perry said.

 

“All our efforts right now continue to be focussed on supporting the Educator, the children and families she works with and everyone else associated with this tragic incident.

 

“As stated yesterday, the incident is currently being investigated by police, so I am unable to comment further,” she said.

 

Communicare's has provided support for Family Day Care Educators throughout the Western Australian community for over 35 years, with Educators registered to care for children from birth to 12 years 11 months.

 

All education and care services in Western Australia are covered by the Education and Care Services National Law (WA) Act 2012 Education and Care Services National Regulations 2012.  Family Day Care Educators provide care in their homes under a service operated by an approved provider, in this instance Communicare Inc.

Carramar Family Day Care Incident

Not-for-profit community service provider, Communicare can confirm an incident involving a two-year-old boy found in a swimming pool in Carramar yesterday took place at the home of one of its Family Day Care Educators.

 

“As you can imagine, our Educator, the family and our staff are completely devastated by what has taken place,” Communicare CEO Melissa Perry said.

Ms Perry said the Educator had been operating the home-based business with administrative and compliance support from Communicare as an approved Family Day Care Educator for just over 12 months.

 

“All our efforts right now are focussed on supporting her, and everyone else associated with this tragic accident.

 

“The Educator’s pool was gated and secure, and I understand the pool was last inspected in March 2015.

 

“The Educator also holds a valid first aid certificate as required by all Family Day Care Educators supported by Communicare.

 

“As the incident is currently being investigated by police I am unable to comment further,” she said.
